less-pdf-text - Less for seeing plaintext of PDF files
This document describes version 0.015 of less-pdf-text (from Perl distribution App-PDFUtils), released on 2023-02-10.
Use like you would use the Unix command less:
% less-pdf-text [options] <PDF_FILE>...
This is a wrapper for the Unix command less. It assumes that each input file is a PDF file and tries to convert the file to text first using pdftotext CLI utility first before passing it to less.
less
These are options that are interpreted by less-pdf-text and not passed to less.
Please specify these options before file names.
--pdf-pages
Only diff a range of pages instead of the whole PDF. Example: 1,5-10,15. Requires pdftk to extract the page range.
--pdf-raw
If set, then pdftext command will be run using the -raw option.
pdftext
-raw
If set to true, do not cleanup temporary directories.

To contribute, you can send patches by email/via RT, or send pull requests on GitHub.
Most of the time, you don't need to build the distribution yourself. You can simply modify the code, then test via:
% prove -l
If you want to build the distribution (e.g. to try to install it locally on your system), you can install Dist::Zilla, Dist::Zilla::PluginBundle::Author::PERLANCAR, Pod::Weaver::PluginBundle::Author::PERLANCAR, and sometimes one or two other Dist::Zilla- and/or Pod::Weaver plugins. Any additional steps required beyond that are considered a bug and can be reported to me.
